$$$ spent ... se-te-res ...

it started with balloting for fun ... since we were just boyfren-girlfren ... back on 10 Oct 2008. we got our Q no which was way too far. no news after that.
then we throw another $10 and ballot again on 13 april 2009. no flat available for us to choose.
new ruling came. we can opt for living near parents scheme. and we did it again on 1 oct 2009. another $10. and this time we made it. we got the flat of our choice. at the very sec we are to choose our flat on 21may2010 paying $2,000 in cash for the option fee, only 2 is available ... either the unit at the point block or the unit at the corridor. we hope to get the unit at the point block. though we know that we will spend a bomb on that unit - $457,400 for a 4-room Model A (New Series) 92sqm flat.
we went to scout for renovation companies and decided to go with Stephen from Classic Ideas. Met him on 24 Dec 2010. He was recommended by Enez whose parents house was done up by him. A very cheerful, direct guy. It's a breeze working with him.
He presented his quote to us on 25 Dec 2010 despite it being a Christmas holiday at $22,231.00.We paid our deposit of $100 to secure the deal and use the same quote to submit our renovation loan application at various banks.
We got our keys on 4 jan 2011 @2.30pm after much waiting.
we bought 42" LG plasma tv for 798, 32" hitachi LCD tv for 479, 7.5kg hitachi washing machine for 799 and 2-door hiitachi fridge for 920 at mega discount store at kallang leisure park. raymond was being very sincere and cost effective.
we got approval from both RHB at $10,000 with interest rate of 3.22 paying $385 per month effective from 18 mar 2011 for the next 5 yrs. We had to open and account with RHB for $500 and $200 processing fee. OCBC we took up $18,000 with interest 5.98 paying $347.82 per month effective 1 apr 2011 for the next 5 yrs. OCBC deducted $200 from the loan amt and 1% of the loan amount for insurance. Cheque received from OCBC: $17,620.
Renovation loan cheque was cleared. we paid up Classic Ideas on 5 Mar 2011 $37,620. after deducting taxable income payable by us (becos we took up more loan then the actual renovation cost) at 20% of the Net Balance Quoted Amount. with stephen, we went to shop for toilet accessories at hua chong, bedok north. spent 850.65. bought 3x wall fans, 1x ceiling fan, 22 lights for L-box and entire house at premier lighting centre, geylang. spent 3200.
on 20 apr we went to nova at trade hub and got a sofa for 1399, tv console for 799 and coffee table for 469. augustine who attended to us was direct and sincere. so is edi the manager in charge of the outlet. he gave us a 100 voucher. how cool is that? didn't get another set of the cushion cover but we'll probably get that closer to raya. the covers cost abt 500-800 and takes abt 10 days.
