Venus -> Schick -> Venus ... Choice of Women's Shavers

Well the questions of whether one should shave or not, i guess it is really up to your own hygiene, your own self esteem, your own self confidence.
I don't recall having armpit hair ... i think i start shaving the minute it shows up.
I started shaving my legs after i had a session of waxing. After that, shaving my leg is a must. Imagine previously with hairs ... then no hair ... then the next thing you knew you need to keep it hairless.
i do shave my bikini line and down there too. Part of the hygiene ritual. I prefer it trimmed or no hair then a jungle of hair. lol.

I started with the Schick Silk Effects Plus. Maybe it's the cheapest at that time.

The razor blade features microfine wires that optimize with your skin to give you a close shave while guarding against nicks and iritation. It's scary when you have nicks here and there. The razor's comfort strip with aloe and vitamin E help enhance razor glide to protect the skin and gives it a smooth shave.
What i love most is the contoured rubber handle that is easy to maneuver for a steady, comfortable shave. It is also small, good size for travel. At that time, it really gives me a steady grip ... but realise not anymore now. (that is why i just threw it away after many years ;p)

Then i move to my next shaver, Venus Original. As i use the Schick Silk Effects Plus as my travel shaver. So Venus Original as my home shaver.

A 3-blade razor with protective cushions.

Nothing fancy. It gives a good shave esp when you are using a new blade. And you knew when to change the blade when the indicator strip with a touch of aloe has a blue stripe that fades and you are not getting the optimal shave.

After a while using it, i decide to go for something different. A different brand. Maybe because i'm not getting the optimum smooth shave. Or just being me ... i need a change.

Reading a bit, i decide to go with Schick Quattro for Women Trimstyle Razor. http://www.schick.com/wproducts/schick-quattro-for-women-trimstyle-razor

At that time i was thinking, i could use the trimmer to get a better bikini and down under shave. but hahaha ... i only use it for once and i find that shaving it gives me a smoother and better controlled shave. So a fancy shaver like this just don't appeal to me.

The best about this shaver is the 4-blade Pivoting Head. It is designed specifically for a woman's body, the curves of the cartridge follow our natural shape. The 4-blade razor provides a precise shave while the pivoting head offers great flexibility for gliding into hard-to-reach areas.

Again i've use this for a while now, until recently i decide to change. That's because i need to get the razor refill, but decide to look2 see2 what's new. And that is when i decide to try something else. And that's when i came upon Venus and decide to go back to using Venus again.

So got myself a Venus Embrace.

Having read the description on the box, i fell for it. "5 curve-hugging blades to get virtually every hair" ... and i was thinking it's no wonder my hub's shaver is so much better than my Quattro ... because of the blades. And there i was convincing myself that this would give me a comparable to my hub's shaver. (shhhhh ... dun tell him i uses his occasionally ... oppppss)

And so i brought this shaver home. And i tried it. Verdict? AWESOME!!! it sure makes my legs smoother than ever. And it has this moisture strips that i dun need to use foam/soap or anything ... in it itself, when use ... it produces like a gel thing ... that gives a smooth shave. and indeed every single hair is shaved off.

So i got myself excited and decide to go look for the refill. Carousell as usual always has unexpected find. And the best thing that i just found out is that the refillable razors interchangeable cartridges can fit any Venus razor handles/shaver. How cool is that? If only i knew, i won't throw away my original Venus.

With that in mind, bought myself Venus embrace refills from Carousell for $10.

And bought another Venus & Olay Razor in Sugarberry also from Carousell for $10. Hahaha ... what a steal. Shops are selling for $19++. Tot i could have 1 place at home and another at mum's.

i pick these because i am just OCD about scents. So with this sugarberry; sweet sugary berry scent, i'm sure i'm going to love it.  Though i find that blade kind of odd looking. Well for sure no separate shaving cream is required.

And a fact i just knew, not only the scent adds some summery (=summer) aroma to my shaving time, but it also increases visual shine by up to 30%. The 5 blades gently exfoliates for surface skin renewal and sugarberry scented Olay Moisture Bars helps lock-in moisture to our skin reducing surface dryness.
Boy am i glad i made the right choice!

I made a comparison between the
Embrace VS Venus & Olay in Sugarberry
Other than the scent, the Sugarberry has built-in shave gel bars
while the Embrace has the protective ribbon of mositurize.
Other than that they are comparable.
Anyway i can always chose which blade to use without having to buy a new razor.

Venus has gone a long way ... thumbs up.

Some FAQs for your read:

What causes ingrown hairs?
One of the key causes of ingrown hairs is when you don't use a sharp enough razor. The Gilette Venus & Olay razor has five blades that are very close together where you are going to get a close shave in addition to exfoliating your skin.

It is okay to shave every day?
If you use a razor like the Gilette Venus & Olay with built-in moisture, you can shave every day. The problem is when your skin is dry and you're rubbing the razor over dry skin, which causes iritation.

Alternatively be sure to use moisturizer/lotion after each shave so that your skin will not be dry.

How long can you go without changing your razor head?
Change  your razor head after 10 shaves. That is average. But rule of thumb, when you can't smoothly glide the razor over your skin, and see some bumps and irritation, then it is time to change.
